TV advertisements: are they a unilateral offer?

John Leonard v Pepsico Inc (1996)

Pepsi advertised on TV a Harrier jump jet for 7 million Pepsi Points. John Leonard tried to claim the Harrier by paying for it as permitted by Pepsi’s rules.
Judge Wood held that the advertisement did not constitute an offer. He also held that no reasonable person would actually believe that it was a serious offer.
